This film features Freddie Bartholomew in the title role of Little Lord Fauntleroy, a Brooklyn boy who can handle himself well with the neighborhood kids and son to a widowed mother (Dolores Costello-Barrymore). When it's discovered that he is the rightful heir to his English father's fortune and title, our hero is sent off to England to meet up with his grandfather, a strict man with a distain for Americans. Eventually, the boy wins over the heart of his grandfather and is able to fend off the efforts of a false claimant on his title, with the help of his American friend (Mickey Rooney). A tearful reunion with his mother, arranged by his grandfather, brings a climax to this touching story.
